
Julianna Desmarais is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases at Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU). She is the rheumatology division Interim Division Chief, as well as the OHSU rheumatology fellowship Associate Program Director. In 2018, she initiated and became co-director of the multidisciplinary interstitial lung diseases clinic, a clinic where rheumatologists and pulmonologists work side by side. She has a passion for teaching, starting the OHSU School of Medicine rheumatology medical student clerkship, of which she was director for seven years. She continues to work with medical students as their rheumatology course director during the Skin, Bone, and Muscle block. She also works with the medical students, residents, and fellows at OHSU in the rheumatology clinics and during inpatient consultation weeks.
She graduated from medical school at Ohio State University College of Medicine, then completed internal medicine residency and a chief resident year at the University of Utah. She then went to OHSU for rheumatology fellowship and has remained on faculty since that time.
