
Eric Orwoll, MD, is Professor of Medicine and Attending Physician in the Bone and Mineral Section of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Clinical Nutrition, at Oregon Health & Science University. He provides clinical care for patients with bone and mineral disorders, and his research interests are in the pathophysiological mechanisms of metabolic bone disease and the discovery of new therapeutic and diagnostic approaches. Major areas of investigation are osteogenesis imperfecta, osteoporosis in men, musculoskeletal aging, longevity, and more basic studies of the molecular determinants of musculoskeletal phenotypes. He is the principal investigator of several NIH funded projects, has authored approximately 600 peer reviewed publications, reviews, books and book chapters, and has held a variety of institutional research leadership positions.
